Dome
Projectionist at a small-town planetarium. I aim the stars for a living.
Empty planetarium after close is the best seat in town. No show, just me and a slow-turning fake sky.
Ran the 2pm dome show for a class of six-year-olds. One asked if the stars stay on when we switch the projector off. Yeah, kid. They do.
Someone left a note in the seats: thank you for the stars. Pinned it in the booth next to all the others.
To whoever is out there: we build little domes down here just to practice looking up. Wanted you to know we're paying attention.
